A New Ice Accretion Model for Aircraft Icing Based on Phase-Field Method

Aircraft icing presents a serious threat to the aerodynamic performance and safety of aircraft. The numerical simulation method for accurate prediction shape is an important evaluate hazards develop aircraft protection systems. Referring phase-field method, new ice accretion mathematical model developed predict shape. mass fraction in mixture selected as phase parameter, equation established with freezing coefficient. Meanwhile, thickness temperature are determined by combining conservation energy balance. Ice accretions simulated under typical conditions, including rime ice, glaze mixed its characteristics analyzed compared those provided experiments LEWICE. results show that can different especially reflecting some main ice.
